Former New Mexico U.S. Attorney David Iglesias claimed last week that he was fired in December after resisting pressure from two members of Congress to rush indictments in an investigation of an alleged Democratic kickback scheme before the 2006 election.
Carl Tobias' take on the Iglesias Case
"Where this goes is going to depend on where the Democrats take it," said Carl Tobias, a constitutional law professor at the University of Richmond. "And that's going to depend largely on what the U.S. attorneys have to tell them - what they give the Democrats to work with."
