They are typically small, lightweight, removable and rewritable. As of November 2006, memory capacities for USB Flash Drives currently are sold from 32 megabytes up to 64 gigabytes . Capacity is limited only by current flash memory densities, although cost per megabyte may increase rapidly at higher capacities due to the expensive components.

This unit is great. I purchased it to replace a 64mb unit that wasn’t big enough any more. I also wanted to learn to do new things with these thumb drives. It is very fast and after a lot of usage, I have had no read write issues. I have been able to load a DMG on it and boot my mac and install Leopard from it. I have also been able to use it to boot and configure quite a few different laptops using the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows project. I have learned that 2GB units work better for that project, but ... The 16GB Mini Attache was an impulse buy for me. My old SanDisk 4GB finally died (after a chance encounter in-between my laptop and a chair) so I knew I needed a new one. I had only used SanDisk up until this point, but when I saw the Mini Attache was the same price for the 16GB and was smaller and sleeker, I decided to go with it. It performs beautifully, with great speeds (Vista ReadyBoost capable, something my 4 GB SanDisk was not) and the 16GB drive has so much storage capacity I can’t imagine needing another one for quite some time. It ... Read Full Story

This is a great product for those who are looking for an ultra compact thumb drive which has it’s own non-detachable case. It attaches to your key ring using the metal clip attachment which appears practically indestructible but allows you to easily detach the drive for use. I haven’t formally bench-marked it but the speed does seem to be on par with USB 2.0 (unlike some drives I’ve seen which claim to be USB 2.0 but are only as fast as USB 1.1). The only have 2 cons for this product. The first is that it’s slightly slimmer (thickness, not width) than other thumb drives ... Read Full Story
