Nimitz Moms Christmas Project

The Nimitz Moms group on Navy For Moms has taken on the task of sending a Christmas stocking or goody bag to each sailor in Carrier Strike Group 11 and its attached air wings.  The strike group is made up of the USS Nimitz, USS Chosin,  USS Sampson, USS Pinckney, USS Rentz, and several air squadrons. The USS Nimitz along with Carrier Strike Group 11 deployed in July of 2009 and is in the Indian Ocean supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.  The strike group was recently informed that they would have two months added to the deployment so they will be gone for eight months instead of six.  The Nimitz Moms thought the sailors could use a some cheering up for Christmas.
