Guillard fined, suspended by NSAC

UFC President Dana White won't have Melvin Guillard
to check out for eight months


UFC lightweight Melvin Guillard was fined $2,100 and suspended eight months at a Nevada State Athletic commission disciplinary meeting Wednesday.

Guillard tested positive for cocaine in a drug test administered after his first-round guillotine submission loss to Joe Stevenson at April 5's Fight Night.

The 24-year-old Guillard is considered one of the more explosive athletes in the lightweight division, but has had an up-and-down career. After first gaining fame through his time on The Ultimate Fighter 2, where he lost a first-round elimination bout to Josh Burkman, Guillard has gone 3-2 in his UFC career.
