After deciding that Pakistan had tampered with a ball that suddenly started reverse-swinging after 56 overs, Darrell Hair and fellow umpire Billy Doctrove penalised the tourists 5 runs and then allowed England to choose a replacement ball. However, analysis of the ball after the game showed no clear proof of tampering.
Pakistan coach Intikhab Alam came to the defence Monday of paceman Umar Gul following suggestions of ball-tampering.
