According to Wikipedia.org: Historic Unitarianism believed in the oneness of God and not the Christian doctrine of the Trinity proclaimed at the Council of Nicaea in 325 AD. Historic Unitarians believed in the moral authority, but not the deity, of Jesus.

The secular left and religious right tend to fall into a false dichotomy of “Christianity” v. “Deism” as the political-theological drivers of the American Founding. Not enough attention is paid to this middle way theology, why I pay attention to it. [...]
