On September 17, 2007, police from the University of Florida forcibly removed Andrew Meyer, a 21-year-old fourth-year undergraduate telecommunications student, from a forum with U.S. Senator John Kerry, restraining him with the help of a Taser. The taser hit was captured on video and posted to the Internet.

Services for Wanda Mae Meyer, 90, were Saturday, June 7 at Bethel Presbyterian Church, West Union. Honorary casket bearers were Michael Meyer, Jere Meyer, Paul Meyer, Julie Thien, Andrew Meyer, Erik Meyer, Michelle DeMeyer and Janene Roudenbush. Interment was in the West Union Cemetery.
