A community portal about Urban legends with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: An urban legend is a kind of modern folklore consisting of stories often thought to be factual by those circulating them. The term is often used with a meaning similar to the expression "apocryphal story." Urban legends are not necessarily untrue, but they are often false, distorted, exaggerated, or sensationalized. Despite the name, urban legends do not necessarily take place in an urban setting. The name is designed to differentiate them from traditional folklore in preindustrial times.

FALSE: Plus, bleach burns. It can cause internal burns all along your digestive tract and might kill you.
  2. You can cook an egg by placing it between two cell phones
FALSE: No, it won’t even sizzle a little. In 2000, a spoof article was posted on a website and it was called “Mobile Cooking”.
  3. If your titanium ring gets stuck on your finger, you can only get it off by amputating your finger
FALSE: Titanium is light and tough, yes. It can, however, still be cut with the right kind of saw. It is difficult, however, to heat titanium in order to “stretch” it, as is done in some ring sizing.
  4. Two men were arrested for trying to bust a dog out the pound for a funeral.

  5. Skeleton found in tree is the body of a missing roommate
TRUE: A skeleton was found in a tree by utility workers trimming it. The tree was located in someone’s yard and they believe it had been there for about a year. The guy hires tree trimmers regularly, so wonders how it could have been missed. They assume it was suicide, though it was not a hanging so don’t ask me how they figure that, and possibly the body of a roommate who disappeared the previous year.
  6. An inmate in jail for murder sues the jail for not serving enough food
TRUE: The inmate lost 100 pounds in 8 months, and isn’t very happy he is now down to 304lbs.
  7. If you are a senior citizen and live in Chile, you can get free Viagra
TRUE: They give it out free to senior citizens in a suburb of Santiago because they say a good sex life is healthy.
  8. Gorton’s Fish Fillets were recalled after a pill was found in packages
TRUE: Pills were found in a Gorton’s Fish Fillet and Gortons recalled the filets as a precaution. Later investigation revealed that a house member of the victim put the pills in the fillet. Pills were only found in these fillets and in no other packages.
