Does it make noise? Yes. It's a vacuum cleaner, so what would one expect? It cleans well and doesn't heat up quickly. It is easy to empty. Also, it has an attachment for cleaning corners, windowsills, and etc. I even use it to clean the kitchen, which has wooden flooring. I would recommend this for apartments, where there isn't much to vacuum. Honestly, people tend not to have "common sense." If a person's house is 3000 square feet, he/she shouldn't get this. We received one of these a while back in a $20 Christmas grab bag...it proved invaluble for cleaning window wells in spring, etc. when changing storm windows...We have a country house and felt the need to have one there too! In addition to the windows it is great for picking up those pesky asian beetles.
