Valentino Thinks Costume Institute Gala Gowns Were 'Very Ugly'

Maybe it was Rihanna's gigantic puffed-sleeve cropped tuxedo. Or perhaps Madonna's teal bunny heels and French tart thigh-highs. In any case, legendary fashion designer Valentino was not impressed by the women of this year's Costume Institute Gala in the least.

The designer told The Guardian's Oliver Marrie, "I think now all the girls look very ugly. I saw the pictures of the Metropolitan gala evening last week and I never saw something more ugly, all the girls have their legs out with the most terrible proportions."

Maybe he was referring to the numerous Versace creations on this year's red carpet, almost all of which featured daring thigh-high slits that kept the wearers walking quite precariously. Blake Lively even voiced concern at having to climb the stairs in front of a crowd of waiting photographers.
