Vegetable hair dyes are no recent invention, either: there's evidence to suggest that the Ancient Egyptians used herbal and vegetable mixtures to tint their own locks. If you're worried about chemical exposure but want to change your look, the all-natural (but semi-permanent) method may be best for you.

This prompted some of you to point out that Surya contains dyes such as HR red 3. It seemed to be time to try to round up the various dyes and pigments in makeup and hair dyes and determine which are safe to use.
The most common synthetic colors used in cosmetics and hair dyes are called FD&C colors and they are derived from... Read Full Story

What is the best healthy hair dye ? Henna of course! The leaves of the henna plant produce the traditional red color that we see on the hair of women who are native to India. Or you can add coffee to darken the tone of henna. The stem of the henna plant is neutral. It doesn't color the hair. Rather, neutral henna... Read Full Story
