The oldest film festival in the world, the Venice Film Festival takes place every year in late August or early September on the island of the Lido, Venice, Italy. It is one of the world's most prestigious film festivals, with the principal awards being the Leone d'Oro (Golden Lion) awarded to the best film and the Coppa Volpi (Volpi Cup) awarded to the best actor and actress.
