Vicki Iseman Denies Sleeping With John McCain in New Interview

Just one year ago, John McCain's presidential campaign was interrupted by scandal. A New York Times story published Feb. 21, 2008, (see page 3 of the story) led many to believe he had been knocking boots with D.C. telecommunications lobbyist Vicki Iseman in the run-up to the 2000 presidential elections.

Iseman ended up suing the Times for $27 million in a defamation suit. Just last week, her lawyers reached a settlement with the Times in which she was not awarded any money, and the article in question was not retracted. But the Times did agree to run a written statement from the lawyers (seen here), publicly stating that Iseman never had an affair with John McCain.

No money. No retraction. And this is a win for Vicki Iseman? Ouch. She didn't even get reimbursed for her legal fees. That's one expensive public statement.

In a Monday morning interview on CBS, Iseman seemed to gloat over the superficial win by once again denying that she ever had an affair with McCain.


So The Times never found any hard evidence showing Iseman had an affair with McCain, but you can see why they'd be confused. Not only was she spending so much time with him in 2000, that McCain's staffers worried about how it looked, but it's undeniable that she bears a strange resemblance to McCain's wife, Cindy.
