TiVo announced this past Tuesday that they access to Blockbuster’s long awaited OnDemand rental service. In a last ditch effort for Blockbuster to stay in business as well as remain competitive with Netflix. TiVo subscribers can buy classic movies for $2.99 and $3.99 for new releases. Blockbuster will add more films over the coming weeks including some select HD titles.

It’s been expected for some time, but yesterday finally saw the new YouTube service come alive on TiVo. The service will roll out on all TiVo Series 3 and HD boxes over the next few weeks.
The service comes as part of the 9.4 software update, and means that all YouTube videos will now be viewable on TiVo in H.264. This is the first time TiVo has rendered content in anything other than MPEG-2.

TiVo and Nero AG of Germany are set to announce today that they will be launching a package that turns a Windows PC into a TV recorder, just like a TiVo set-top box.
The kit costing $199 will go on sale Oct. 15, and includes a remote and an external TV tuner that plugs into the PC. The computer screen interface is identical to a TV equipped with a TiVo box.

News is out that TiVo, which allows viewers to digitally record programs and fast-forward through ads, is trying to sell ad spaces on its screens. Blockbuster will become the latest Internet video-on-demand service to appear on TiVo DVRs.
The two companies announced late Tuesday that they are working to make Blockbuster's service available on all TiVo Series2 and Series3 DVRs (including the HD and HD XL models) in the second half of 2009.
