Brew Crew Fever

With the addition of Cy Young Winner C.C. Sabathia, the Milwaukee Brewers have made a big splash for the playoffs. I had previously written them off due to less than stellar pitching but with this addition they are a team that can and should contend in what is becoming a heated NL Central race. Everyone’s favorite, the Chicago Cubs are still in control but the Cardinals have hung around and are 3.5 games back with the Brew Crew 4 games out. As of today the Cardinals have the Wild Card spot but look for the Brewers to really challenge for that since the Braves seem to be dwindling in the east. Other than the Cardinal and Brewers no one seems to want the Wild Card but I’ll throw in the Mets since they can’t continue their .500 pace all year. But back to the Brewers, with their offense and Sheets and C.C. anchoring the staff it looks like a solid team come October. Even though I wrote off Manny Parra he has been solid as of late(soild pickup for my fantasy team so far). Dave Bush has also contributed as a fourth starter as has Seth McClung. Jeff Suppan is currently hurt so when he comes back it is a very capable staff. This team reminds me of Arizona in a few years, two aces and a young, but potent offense. People say it is the Cubs year and it may be but it could also be the Brewers year but they will have to duke it out with division rival St. Louis in the second half of the year. I’ll rank this division race slightly behind the AL East but they will both provide something to see as the second of the season starts up in a few weeks.
