Is “Spygate” the Motivation Behind the Patriots Beatings?

You can bet that all the bashing that Patriots head coach Bill Belichick and his team took during the “spygate” scandal earlier this season is exactly why the team is pouring it on late in games. The Pats have not been shy in going for the kill, like Sunday when they actually went for it late in the game already well out of hand against the Redskins to try and run up the score. While the tactic was not appreciated by Skins coach Joe Gibbs, Belichick stared for a moment when asked about it in the postgame and said - “What do you want us to do, kick a field goal?”

The Patriots are scary good. No team in the history of the National Football League is on a roll as much as this team, and they are making things look easy. Week in and week out they are putting up video game like numbers in putting other teams to shame. They routed the team that many proclaimed is the best in the NFC, the Cowboys, earlier this season on the road, and now get to try and do the same to the Super Bowl champion Colts on their home turf in Indy Sunday.

Consider that the Pats have scored a league record 331 points through eight games. Tom Brady has thrown 30 touchdowns in those games. They are on pace to shatter the Vikings record for points in a season with 662 if they keep on this pace. The Vikings scored 556 points back in 1998. As for Brady, he could roll right past Peyton Manning’s TD record with this pace, as right now he’s on pace for 60 TD throws, Manning’s NFL record set a few years back was 49.

And to think that the mastermind of this rampage is a man who seven weeks ago had to be run through the mud for cheating. That’s right, Bill Belichick is now taking out his revenge on everyone that thought he and his players were using stealing other teams signals via video tape by making a statement each and every week. Punish the opposition into the ground, and kick em when they are down. And if they even try to get up - kick em again.
