While I'm certain that a helicopter tour of the state would have given Kaine a better impression of the damage done in Hampton Roads by storms, that helicopter tour might have informed any number of state employees who are 1...

Virginia Governor Tim Kaine declared a State of Emergency
Wednesday night. The declaration is in response to the anticipated
effects of the remnants of Tropical Storm Ida and the coastal
Nor'easter hitting Hampton Roads as well as other portions of the
Commonwealth. The declaration immediately directs state agencies to
take necessary actions to protect the health and safety of citizens
throughout the Commonwealth.

Virginia Governor Tim Kaine has denied clemency to D.C. sniper John Muhammad. He is scheduled to die today. More from the New York Times. From his statement: “I find no compelling reason to set aside the sentence that was recommended by the jury and then imposed and affirmed by the courts. Accordingly, I decline to intervene.” Yesterday, the Supreme Court declined to intervene.
