Biggie's Mom Responds to Lil Kim's 'Notorious' Criticisms

Last week, word hit the interwebs that plastic surgery-loving MC Lil Kim was not happy with her portrayal in the Notorious BIG biopic, Notorious. She apparently thinks the actress chosen to play her, Naturi Naughton, is "tasteless and talentless." She wrote in a Facebook note:
I feel like I was not portrayed how I should have been in this movie. I was in love with BIG and he was in love with me. I was never a JUMP-OFF, I know this and BIG knew this. I wasn’t even able to choose who I wanted to portray me in this movie. I would have never picked Naturi, she doesn’t have a Lil Kim aura at all! She looks nothing like I looked back then. We have NO similarities. Watching her on-screen was so “dreadful” as Simon Cowell would say. She is tasteless and talentless. Never once did she contact me for input or to get a feel of me for the character. A “TRUE” actress would contact the source to be the best they can be in portaying someone. That told me right there, she wasn’t right for the part and not to mention, Naturi has got to be one of THE worst actresses I’ve ever seen and I can’t believe they chose her. I really can’t! Actress Naturi Naughton.
That's a lot of vitriol for someone Kim's never met.

Kim, neé Kimberly Denise Jones, went on to complain that Notorious is "truly Faith and Ms. Wallace's movie." She was referring to Voletta Wallace, the late B.I.G.'s mother.

Ms. Wallace responded to Kim's criticisms in an interview with Hip Hop Weekly, touching on rumors that Kim wanted to be portrayed by a Hispanic or Asian woman.
She felt the character we chose for her was too dark. Do you know why the character was too dark for her? Because she's a white woman trapped in a black woman's ody, and you can tell the world I said it, because those are Lil Kim's words. She should be ashamed of herself.
Ouch.

The beef between Lil Kim, Ms. Wallace, and the late B.I.G.'s former wife, Faith Evans, goes back over a decade. Lil Kim allegedly had an affair of B.I.G. during his tumultuous marriage to Evans. In her 2008 autobiography Keeping the Faith, Evans described punching Lil Kim when she found her in bed with her husband.
