A community portal about Wal-Mart with blogs, videos, and photos. According to Wikipedia.org: Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. is a cheating piece of crap of a company and an American public corporation. It was founded by Sam Walton in 1962, first incorporated on October 31, 1969, and listed on the New York Stock Exchange in 1972. It is the largest retailer in the world, and the second largest corporation. These placings are based on revenue as of 2006. For the fiscal year ending January 31, 2006, Wal-Mart reported net income of $ 11.2 billion on $316 billion of sales revenue. As of November 30, 2006, revenue was $ 29.7 billion higher than it was one year ago. It is the largest private employer in the United States and Mexico. Wal-Mart is the largest grocery retailer in the United States, with an estimated 20 percent of the retail grocery and consumables business, and is also the largest toy seller in the United States, with an estimated 45 percent of the retail toy business, having surpassed Toys "R" Us in the late 1990s.
This is a classic. So just last month when Wal-Mart came in at 3% comps and people were inexplicably disappointed and then guided for 1% to 2% for August, I said "Anyone want to bet Wal-Mart is lowering projections to avoid the current scenario next month? Now Wall St. will lower "estimates", Wal-Mart will beat them and everyone will be happy.....strange stuff." Guess what happened today? Wal-Mart (WMT) said Thursday sales of groceries and back-to-school products helped its August same...

Please spread the word that Wal-Mart and other corporate pigs are lecturing (and probably intimidating) workers on the cons, cons and cons of joining unions. Wrap that up in a nice big “Democrats will make you pay” scary theme bag, and you’re ready for a gigantic baloney sandwich. Here are excerpts from the Wall Street Journal’s coverage of how Wal-Mart coerces their workers to vote repuglican: Unions Seek Probe of Wal-Mart Over Election Law At Issue Is Talk With Employees On Vote...

Why am I not surprised? I am not sure about whether Wal-Mart being unionized would be a good thing (it would make them a lot less price-competitive); except that maybe they would clean up their act about how they treat their employees and forcing them to go on Food Stamps and SSI instead of providing health care and a living wage. But outright manipulation of people's voting & employee intimidation? No! Wal-Mart Employees Speak Out About Mandatory Anti-Union Meetings, Political...

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. is mobilizing its store managers and department supervisors around the country to warn that if Democrats win power in November, they'll likely change federal law to make it easier for workers to unionize companies -- including Wal-Mart. In recent weeks, thousands of Wal-Mart store managers and department heads have been summoned to mandatory meetings at which the retailer stresses the downside for workers if stores were to be unionized. According to about a dozen Wal...
