Last week during the blogger fam tour, we had a tremendous tour of the Cosmosphere by the CEO, Chris Orwoll. During our behind the scene tour, he showed us a photo of Guenter Wendt, known as the "Padleader" during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs. March 12, 1923: was born in Hackensack, New Jersey. One of the original Mercury 7 astronauts, Schirra went on to fly in Mercury, Gemini and Apollo, America's first three space programs. Photo by: Will Parson Veterans Day came early this year at the Mount Soledad Veterans Memorial, where a ceremony on Saturday honored the late astronaut Wally Schirra. Mount Soledad Memorial Association Chairman unveiled the plaque. Sinh Tho Nguyen, a 40-year-old veteran of the Army National Guard, who was in San Diego completing a 2,500-mile walk across the country to honor America and those who serve, was a guest of honor.
