George Bush Sr. Is a Mensch: The Twisted Politics of Ray McGovern

For awhile now I’ve been asking what I thought was a very good question: Why is the anti-war movement allowing itself to be run by the CIA? No one has bothered to reply, so I’ll go ahead and give you the answer (or should I say A.N.S.W.E.R.?): Much of the left in this country is fake and/or under the control of the establishment. Until progressives and leftists and other anti-establishment types come to understand this, progressive efforts such as the current anti-war movement are going to continue looking like…well….um….the current anti-war movement.

To start off, I’d like to reintroduce my readers to Ray Mcgovern, “retired” CIA officer who was the darling of the anti-war movement until he helped hasten it’s near total collapse. We first encountered McGovern in this post, which I’m hoping you will read in its entirety.

McGovern is quite open about his long, 27-year CIA career. But for some reason, people have been thinking of him as some kind of “whistle blower”. A good rule of thumb for identifying whistle blowers is that you can hear them blowing whistles. McGovern doesn’t. In fact, his praise for the CIA (except the CIA under Bush Jr.) could come straight from the Voice of America itself, so devoid is it of criticism. So here now, in his own words from this interview, is Ray McGovern telling you EXACTLY how he sees the world. I’d like you to read these excerpts and then ask yourself not only why this man has been accepted by the “left” as a genuine anti-war figure, but why he allied himself with “World Can’t Wait” known to be a front group of the cult-like Revolutionary Communist Party. Why did he choose them and not some more moderate groups, especially given his pride in “fighting Communism” at the CIA?

There’s really only one reasonable answer: Because it’s his job.
