Life goal #236 has been checked off the list. “Meet Warren Haynes” The Govt Mule concert in Kettering, OH this Saturday was absolutely incredible. Was escorted backstage, met the whole band, and had killer seats to boot. Special thanks to Rich Hill for hooking us up with his daughter, Kristin, who drives the Mule publicity van (one of the coolest jobs on the planet, I’d say!) Biggest lament: Not ordering my “More Cowbell” t-shirt in time for the concert. Had to tell drummer Matt Abts about it instead. Fell short of the expected funniness. MUSIC NEWS - Gov't Mule has announced a July 28 release for their new, " By a Thread " album (their 8th, and first with current bassist), the follow-up to the band's 2006 release, " High and Mighty " album, marking the band's first new studio album in three years. The new 11 tune, By A Thread, was recorded earlier this year down at Willie Nelson's Pedernales Studio , near Austin, TX (full track list below the break). MUSIC NEWS - The DEAD, original members Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart, along with Warren Haynes and Jeff Chimenti, wrapped up three special rare club gigs in Manhattan this past Monday (March 30), all for free ! The group off with an acoustic set at ANGEL ORENSANZ and featured Weir, Lesh, and Haynes, followed by back-to-back electric sets at THE GRAMERCY THEATRE and ROSELAND BALLROOM for a total of 4,100 thrilled fans.
