Washington Monument

The Fourth of July ceremonies on the National Mall included a change in the traditional array of U.S. flags around the Washington Monument .  

Last week I spent a couple days in our nation's capital. I strolled down the mall from the Lincoln Memorial, past the Washington Monument and White House, toward the Capitol.

Meandering through wooded hills, the George Washington Memorial Parkway offers stunning views of the Potomac River and the capital's monuments beyond.
