The painting shown above, a 1968 watercolor by American artist Jim Dine, has an interesting story. The work was originally commissioned by Capitol Records for a Beatles album which was never made because the Beatles left Capitol and formed the Apple Records label. The Warren Arts and Culture Center is gearing up for an art opening and reception for local watercolor artist Celia Knapp this weekend. The opening reception is scheduled for Sunday, from 2-4 p.m., and will highlight 30 watercolor paintings by Knapp, an alumni of Edinboro University, along with a piece by local artist Chris Mesme.  

See the Idaho Watercolor Society's fall show with work from artists across the state, including guest artist John Killmaster. The show is on display at the Boise Inc. Plaza when the building is open. All of the work is for sale.  

The Kentucky Commission on Women is looking for nominations of outstanding women for a watercolor exhibit at the state Capitol. Nominations for the Kentucky Women Remembered program are being accepted through Nov. 23. The program started in 1978.
