In the 4 years that I have been doing lightning photography I have been using a Point and shoot camera with great success. The Camera I have been using is a Kodak Easyshare z730. This point and shoot camera has a 64 second exposure option which will definetely put most or all Point and shoots in the basic range and This camera in the more advanced range. The recent cold snap has seen some local ponds freeze over and with temperatures not expected to rise until the weekend a layer of ice is expected to remain on the surfaces - even throughout the day. Back before my knees began to give me trouble, I would switch from running to walking when the temperature hit -22 C. We have had several days of thunderstorms, some severe and some previously severe and also general thunderstorms. So far I have taken advanatge of about 3 active days. I have photos from July 8th of Lightning at night and then Last tuesdays storms. No lightning from the severe storms but I did manage to get some structure photos.
