In the 4 years that I have been doing lightning photography I have been using a Point and shoot camera with great success.  The Camera I have been using is a Kodak Easyshare z730.  This point and shoot camera has a 64 second exposure option which will definetely put most or all Point and shoots in the basic range and This camera in the more advanced range.  Nonetheless, lightning photography is pretty easy.  The best times to photograph lightning is at night or early morning before the sun comes up.  The Most important items for lightning photography is the following.  1. We have had several days of thunderstorms, some severe and some previously severe and also general thunderstorms.  So far I have taken advanatge of about 3 active days.  I have photos from July 8th of Lightning at night and then Last tuesdays storms.  No lightning from the severe storms but I did manage to get some structure photos.  I am still hoping and counting on Night time thunderstorms so I can add to the lightning section of the Photo Gallery.  This year has actually been quite pathetic in many ways.  The lack of storms is obvious.  The Higher terrain has been taking all of ...
