The James Webb Space Telescope is a planned space infrared observatory, intended to ultimately replace the Hubble Space Telescope. NASA, the European Space Agency, and the Canadian Space Agency are all working on the Webb telescope project. The telescope is named after NASA's second administrator, James E. Webb.
Unfortunately the telescope won't be launched into orbit until at the soonest 2013.
Mars isn’t the only source of cool news about outer space. NASA has announced that by the end of the year, the world’s greatest telescope will be refitted to see deeper into space than ever before.
