Web designing is simply the act of creating the web pages that are on your website. Web pages are made up of both text and images. Each page within a website is a file, which has its own name (URL), and is linked together with a navigation menu composed of hyperlinks. The number of web pages per site varies from just one page up to several (minimum should be at least five pages). Your web pages may consist of an introductory page that is called the homepage (file name: homepage.html or index.html), and a few other pages such as: about you; your products or services; your company history; articles or resources; links to other sites; and a contact page.

The best rule of thumb is to create whatever and however many pages you need to adequately introduce and showcase your business or services, and offer your prospective customers what they came to find. You can read more about web design solutions in my website tutorial.
