Wedding Planning is a huge field of endeavor. Even the fun stuff can require a training course: invitations, fashion, ceremonies. But then there are those sneak-up-on-you social and emotional components. Internal family issues, the merging of two families, the beginning and end of lifestyles, all these life-changes can cause an avalanche of emotion to surface around wedding time -- and not just for the bride and groom. This wikizine is dedicated to the art of planning a wedding, from the tiny details to the fun, while preparing for the emotional issues that may lurk in the details. Learn from others who have dealt with weddings, find tips and news on the latest ways to handle this large undertaking, and share your own stories -- funny or horror.

Shoes...I want Shoes

So many ladies express increasing exasperation with the bridal shoe situation I thought we'd list a breakdown of great places for shoes!

Our first go-to is, of course, shopping online. At first, this might seem like a bad idea - all the drama of shipping shoe rejects back seems icky, not to mention having to pay for shipping...you would rather go to Nordstrom!

Fear not!

There are LOTS of websites that have a great selections of shoes and super flexible shipping and return policies (usually they don't even charge YOU shipping). Most sites include a return label - all you have to do is take it to a UPS pick-up location and you are done! You can buy a bunch, try 'em all on, find the best pair, and send the rest packing.

Our favorites (other than the standbys of Zappos.com & Shoes.com) are:

The L'ezu online store - www.lezustore.com features Grace and Grazia shoes and has an excellent selection and return policy!
Piperlime - www.piperlime.com has a great selection of shoes, and has "wedding planner to the stars" Mindy Weiss's picks!
Endless - www.endless.com - we love the search functions on this site!
Bluefly - www.bluefly.com is always good to check for high-end labels at a great price (Christian Louboutin anyone?)

Don't want to mess with online shopping? Check out the Stuart Weitzman store in Tysons II. While you are in Virginia, check out Shoe Fly over in Arlington or in Bethesda (another awesome store like this is Shake Your Booty in Adams Morgan). I can't promise wedding shoes, but I can tell you you won't leave empty handed! Sassanova in Georgetown does not necessarily have bridal shoes but, if you are open to fancy heels, check them out, and also Hu's Shoes while you are at it!

Of course, there is always the shoe trifecta - Saks, Neiman's, and Nordstrom - all with locations in Maryland and DC.

So, good luck searching for the perfect shoes and don't forget to bring them to your fittings!
