By Thomas Hauser: Thanksgiving and Christmas came early for boxing this year. The November 14th mega-match between Manny Pacquiao and Miguel Cotto was the biggest and most important fight of 2009. Think of it as a holiday festival with Pacquiao in the role of Santa Claus. Or maybe Manny is better characterized as a non-stop Energizer Easter Bunny, whose fists exploded like Fourth of July fireworks and turned Cotto’s face into a gruesome...

Last Saturday night, Floyd Mayweather Jr celebrated Manny Pacquiao's victory over Miguel Cotto at Club XS at the Encore Casino in Las Vegas. Right after the super mega fight of Manny Pacquiao vs Miguel Cotto last Saturday pretty much only one man's name was being mentioned on everyone's mouth on who would be Pacquiao's next victim. Watch Juan Diaz vs Paulie Malignaggi Live on HBO on August 22 in Houston , Texas. Diaz, the former WBA, WBO and IBF lightweight champion, can't be expected to go up to 140-pounds, but a catch-weight bout is very much on the cards. Former IBF light-welterweight champion Malignaggi, himself looking to get his second win since his forced retirement loss to Ricky Hatton, is no big light-welterweight, and as such he could perhaps drop a few pounds and meet the 25-year-old in what would surely be a most interesting and compelling fight. Malignaggi, now aged 28 and 26-2(5) as a pro, is approx two ... Read Full Story

People give me grief all the time about boxing is more of a sport than MMA, and this is the biggest argument against that sort of logic. Here’s Paulie Malignaggi, who made the trip to Houston to fight Juan Diaz in Diaz’s hometown of Houston, Texas, well aware that he might not get a fair shake at a decision if the fight went the distance. Well, it did, and he didn’t. Malignaggi lost a unanimous decision, and let everyone in Houston know that he felt he was robbed. I give this rant 4 stars, but a NSFW warning for language: Boxing has no f*cking ... Read Full Story
