The venerable Westminster Kennel Club was established in 1877 and is the oldest organization in the US focused on the sport of purebred dogs. It was first televised back in 1948 and today remains the most-watched dog show in America. The associated press reports, “Crowds gawked at a table set up outside Madison Square Garden on Monday afternoon, where People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals was protesting the start of the Westminster Kennel Club show.
