We all know how stressful and nerve wracking a Job   Interview can be especially if the Job Seeker is attending an interview for the first time in his or her life. Things get no better if the Interview is a Panel Interview, that is there are two or more interviewers on the Board and asking questions to the candidate and watching your every move at the same time. No candidate would feel quite comfortable in such a position.   The reason for a panel interview is to get the opinion of multiple people at the same time on the viability of a work ... If a student were to ask 10 career counselors this question: "What skills are necessary for success in the workplace?" – chances are that student would hear 10 different answers. In order to reduce confusion and try to dispel some myths, I ran an informal study of students who were recently offered a job, new employees who were students as little as 18 months prior, and seasoned hiring managers. I sign in at the marble lobby with the overly friendly receptionist in a tight skirt and frizzy ponytail. A clipboard, akin to a doctor’s office, holds the names and the arrival times of us job seekers. A man uses the tactic of innocent flirtation with the receptionist. He jokes mindlessly about the effects of caffeine and hopes to earn an advantage. A participant in this live version of an actionless reality show I wait for the catalyst to get us going. I take a seat in the cream-colored leather chair sit and wait to be called. CNBC is reporting on the big screen ... Read Full Story

I have worked in and around Call Centers for a good number of years, and one thing that never ceases to amaze me is the negativity that seems to prevail. Part of it could be that the Call Center agents only really take calls from the customers who are having problems. Think about it, when is the last time that you called your credit card company just to thank them for being there when you need them? Instead the only time that you are going to make the effort to get in touch with them is when you are upset about something. And this ... Read Full Story
