Think Green: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
Besides using canvas bags at the grocery store instead of those plastic bags that end up littering vacant lots, getting caught in trees and basically just becoming an environmental eyesore, recycling plastics and aluminum cans has become my issue. Starting small, I looked at my Verve! cans--a family of 4+ goes through quite a few of them!
Of the 102 billion aluminum cans manufactured in 1998, 62 million were recycled. That was 10 years ago, recycling has increased since that time so my guess is that even more are recycled today. Even if your community does not have curbside recycling, you should be able to find a drop-off center nearby where you can take your aluminum to be recycled. Most centers will be listed in the yellow pages under recycling. Verve! cans are double lined aluminum cans that are perfect for recycling.
I turned my bottle of Vemma over this morning to see if the tell tale three arrows with a number graced it--it did and a # 2 at that! A raised number (1 through 7) in a triangle on the bottom of most plastic containers tells you what type of plastic it is and if it can be recycled. Vemma bottles are type 2 (HDPE) plastic containers which can be recycled in many communities at the curb but check with your city for local instructions.
Vemma has been proven in clinical studies to be absorbed at the 97% level, which means that your body is getting the benefit of what you’re paying for—the word is still out on whether undigested pills clog sewers and landfills but why worry about it? Think Green, Drink Vemma!
