Reasons for High White Blood Count

There are many possible reasons why a person might have a high white blood count. Here are a few of the most common reasons:

Possible Reasons for High White Blood Count:
  1. The person may have an infection, and the body is forming white blood cells to help fight it off
  2. The person may be taking antibiotics or anti-seizure drugs
  3. The person may have leukemia
  4. The person may be recovering from a burn
  5. The person may have a bone marrow disease
  6. The person may have recently suffered from a dramatic physical trama
  7. The person may be under extreme emotional stress

A normal white blood cell count is between 4,000 and 10,000 white blood cells per microliter.

Just a reminder: When it comes to medical issues, it's always smart to consult with your doctor.  You should ask a professional for the personal reasons for your high white blood count.

You should definitely ask your doctor about the results. The high count could be caused by many different things, including your body's natural reaction to fight off infections. Ask your doc, so you know for sure.
