PHILIPPOUSSIS BEATS PERNFORS IN "COMFORTABLE" NEWPORT NEWPORT, R.I., August 21 – Mark Philippoussis, returning to the site of his last tournament triumph, defeated Mikael Pernfors of Sweden 6-3, 6-4 Friday to advance into the semifinals of the $150,000 Hall of Fame Champions Cup at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
