William Eaton is Assistant Secretary of State for Administration. According to whitehouse.gov: Most recently, William Eaton served as Senior Adviser to the Under Secretary for Management. From 1998 to 2000, he served as Executive Director of the Bureau of European Affairs. William served as Administrative Counselor in Ankara, Turkey from 1994 to 1998 and Administrative Officer in Milan, Italy from 1993 until 1994. He left the Foreign Service from 1989 until 1992 to serve as Executive Director and Director of International Operations of the Young Presidents' Organization, an international association of young chief executive officers of multimillion-dollar companies in nearly 80 countries around the globe. William graduated from the University of Virginia.
New US Ambassador to Panama Barbara J. Stephenson Arrives Tomorrow
By Fermín Estribí for the Panama America - Panama is anticipating the arrival of the new ambassador from the United States of America to Panama, Barbara Stephenson, who will assume the position left by the departing diplomat William Eaton. Stephenson is expected to arrive in Panama at noon on 31 July 2008. The American civil servant has held important positions within the US State Department and was the coordinating deputy for Iraq.
Editor's Comment: Barbara J. Stephenson, of Florida, will be the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Panama. Ms. Stephenson, a career member of the Senior Foreign Service, was serving as the Deputy Coordinator for Iraq at the Department of State. Prior to this, she served as a Principal Officer in Belfast. Earlier in her career, she served as a Political and Economic Officer in Panama. Ms. Stephenson received her bachelor's degree, master's degree, and PhD from the University of Florida.
