William Flynn was only 16 and was having an affair with Pamela Smart when he shot and killed Greg Smart, her husband, in Derry, N.H. The case made national headlines at the time.

William Flynn is now asking for forgiveness in court in an attempt to have his sentence reduced. He has now spent half of his young life in prison.

Gregory Smart's dad refuses to let William Flynn off the hook

William Flynn apologized to the family and friends of Greg Smart in court. He is asking to have his 28 year sentence reduced.

Gregory Smart's father accepted Flynn's apology, but doesn't think that he should be released from prison yet:

"I accept it and may God bless you," Smart said, but added that it is too early for him to be released.

"You, Mr. Flynn, with (accomplice) Patrick Randall patiently waited for my son to arrive at home ... you had every opportunity given to you that night to get the hell out of there. At 16, you should've known the difference between right and wrong."
