In 2005, worldwide capacity of wind-powered generators was 58,982 megawatts ; although it currently produces less than 1% of world-wide electricity use, it accounts for 23% of electricity use in Denmark, 6% in Germany and approximately 8% in Spain. Globally, wind power generation more than quadrupled between 1999 and 2005.
Siemens Energy is picking up a lot of business at the moment.
This contract is an order for another 2.3-megawatt (MW) wind-turbine project in the US.

Iberdrola will expand its current 198 MW wind farm (El Marquesado) in Granada, Spain, to reach an installed capacity of 500 MW. That will bring the total investment in the area to around 380 million euros. This wind farm is already one of the largest in Europe and with the expansion will be among the largest in the world. A local manufacturer, Eozen, is expected to provide a significant share of the wind turbines for the project.
