Domaime Galevan, A Woman and Rhone Wines with Character, Paroles de Femme

A week or so ago, I was browsing the shelves of a wine store looking for unfamiliar labels when I spotted Paroles de Femme (Words of a Woman, A Woman's Words) from Domaine Galevan on the road to Vaison La Romaine so definitely Rhone. Since the Domaine Galevan site (in French, English version does not seem to work) was short on specifics regarding the wines they produce, I got some information from Denmark thanks to Chateauneuf which besides the Danish version has also an English one. More Privileges for Winery Tasting Rooms

Guests at San Francisco's Press Club can sample wines from many top California wineries; under the new law, they will also be able to purchase wine by the glass or the bottle, and take home any unfinished bottles. Sacramento, Calif. -- A new law signed last week by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger corrects some inconsistencies in state wine laws -- particularly those related to the so-called “Picnic Wine Bill” passed last year. The law lets wineries offer consumers... Organic Wine From Domaine Carneros Is Now Also Vegan

From:  keetsa.com

But have no fear, as some wineries have progressed and are creating their wines from other more natural methods, such as Domaine Carneros. Domaine Carneros a premium lux brand based in the Napa Valley area of California have recently announced that... Read Full Story

Braiden Rex-Johnson Serves Up Oysters Gratineé

September is my favorite month of the year because it signals the onslaught of oyster season. Pairing the proper wines with raw oysters on the half shell is a delicious challenge, one of particular interest in the Pacific Northwest, the nation’s leading oyster-producing region. Young, lean white wines with crisp acidity that slices through the briny, metallic, cucumber-y, sea-breeze flavors of oysters, routinely win oyster-and-wine-pairing contests. Varietals that “let the... Read Full Story

From:  whywineblog.com
Regional Wine Week was organized by DrinkLocalWine.com . It runs from Sunday Oct. 11 thru Saturday Oct. 17. For me, that means seven days of Finger Lakes wine. With plenty enough in the wine fridge, it won't be to difficult to do, but what choices do I make may pose a problem. Shirley's meal plans have to consider that I work till 10 pm. When I get home it's usually a light meal and a glass or two or three of something I can enjoy while on the PC catching up reading my favorite blogs. Sunday... Read Full Story

Winemakers Fighting Down Economy With New Business Plans

The bad economy has hit the Northwest wine industry hard. That's especially true in the market for high-end wines. In the last 20 years, Washington alone has added 600 new wineries. Now, signs of stress are leaking out in one of the region's wine hubs, the Walla Walla Valley. In part two of a series we are calling "The Crush," KPLU's Anna King went to this tight-knit, pastoral valley to see how winemakers are adapting. Venisson stew, Duck and Goose Gizzards and Hearts, Recipes from Crinella Winery

I never heard about them until today but if there is one thing that Crinella Winery in the Russian River Valley distinguishes itself for it must be the Cookbook Sized list of recipes that they share. There must be a couple hundreds of them from rustic main dishes like Venisson Stew or Duck and Goose Gizzards and Hearts to starters like Sonoma Fish Soup or Roasted Pumpkin Salad not to forget the desserts with Banana Cream Pie . They warn us it is not an American Banana Pie recipe which they... Read Full Story
