Women and Business

Resources are available to help women business owners, or the women hoping to start their own business, achieve success. Helpful hints on a variety of topics will be covered.

The Value of Networking

Women are a constant and growing force in the world of business entrepreneurs. But, that world requires connections. The best way for women to find the connections they need is through networking. Don't be deceived. Networking takes time, it takes money, and it takes strength. There are an number of women's networking organizations available: general networking associations, or industry related organization such as women in construction. What these organizations offer the woman business owner is the opportunity to meet other women struggling or not to grow their businesses and the potential to learn about programs available to women business owners. Generally, these organizations have workshops, advisory boards, and sometimes expertise that can help address a woman business owner's specific problems. One does not have to go through the start-up process, the expansion process, or the financial borrowing process alone.  For resources in your area check on local chapters of the National Association of Women Business Owners, the Women's Business Enterprise National Council, or the links through the Center for Women's Business Research.
