I read today about a Second World War German mine that washed up on a beach in Somerset, which had to be detonated by bomb disposal experts. At 1,500lbs it was a particularly large example and a one mile exclusion zone had to be created prior to the explosion after it was spotted in mud by a fisherman on Thursday.
