WWE Smackdown 6/19/09 QnD results

WWE Smackdown

1. Jeff Hardy beat Chris Jericho via countout after Mysterio interfered. Rey hiding amongst children that are bigger than him was great. Seriously, that was the perfect retaliation for Jericho’s sneak attack. And glad to see Jericho got in his weekly “Ask him! Ask him!”
2. Dolph Ziggler beat Great Khali via DQ after giving him a chair and pretending to be unconscious. Ziggler pulled an Eddie Guerrero, awesome. And he gets a theme, which isn’t great but, its damn better than the stock music from before.
3. Melina bested Alicia Fox. Short match but Alicia looked good.
4. Edge defeated John Morrison with the spear. Wow, Edge with the Jobber’s entrance! Anyways, Great bout here and I’m glad they’re giving JOMO a push. I hope to see a feud between these two this summer. The great counters and impact moves were so nicely done. Oh, and Morrison > Miz confirmed as Morrison has had back to back match of year quality matches with Jericho on Superstars and Edge on Smackdown.
5. Cryme Time & R-Truth beat Shelton Benjamin, Charlie Haas & Ricky Ortiz when Truth pinned Benjamin with the corkscrew elbow. Talk about an odd team; R-Truth is all about redeeming himself and Cryme Tyme is all about stealing and running from the cops. And Ricky Ortiz has an awful gimmick. It reminds me of DDP’s horrible motivational speaker gimmick. Oh, and it looked like spinning elbow barely touched Shelton.
6. CM Punk over Rey Mysterio with the GTS. Punk is getting booed left and right by the Hardy girls. I think he’s definitely going to go full heel at the Bash. Oh, and I can’t tell if Punk’s knee is actually hurting or if he’s just good at selling an injury.

Another fine edition of Smackdown; 3 really solid matches and a decent tag bout. The thing I like most about Smackdown is while they do have promos and backstage skits, most of the story is told during matches and by the commentators.
