Paladin Leveling Guide

Leveling Your Paladin in World of Warcraft

Paladins, or Pallies, are very versatile in the roles they are able to play. They are a hybrid breed that is able to heal and tank at the same time. If they get the opportunity, they can deal a good amount of damage. DPS is the cry of all WoW characters trying to level. For paladins, Retribution is the best way to get the high DPS and level quickly. While Pallies are able to level on their own, they level and function best as support to groups. They are among the hardier on the hybrids because they can wear all types of armor.

Slow and steady, is the way the paladin works. Leveling is a bit slower than for other classes, but the paladin's survivability is much higher. Because the pally is so versatile, the build of the character is going to determine what needs you may have when it comes to gear. For the particular build that we will be discussing, you are going to want to outfit your paladin with armor and trinkets that offer bonuses to intellect, stamina, and agility. Quick leveling is about how quickly you can complete quests and kill mobs. So you are going to want a weapon that boosts your DPS. Paladins tend to work better when grouping with other characters. If your paladin is grouping with a tank, forget the shield and go with a two handed sword. If you are grouping with someone that is squishy (a cloth wearer), you might consider a shield and one handed sword. If other character is a mage, you may not be able to do enough damage to hang on to the agro, so a two-handed sword may be necessary anyway.

Once you get to level 10, you can start using your talent points to spec your Paladin accordingly: Benediction 5/5; Divine Strength 5/5; Divine Intellect 5/5; Spiritual Focus 5/5; Improved Judgment 2/2; Improved Devotion Aura 1/5; Improved Seal of the Crusader 2/2; Conviction 5/5; Seal of Command 1/1; Eye for an Eye 2/2; Crusade 3/3; Two-handed Weapon Specialization 3/3; Sanctity Aura 1/1; Improved Sanctity Aura 2/2; Vengeance 5/5; Sanctified Judgment 3/3; Sanctified Seals 3/3; Repentance 1/1; Fanaticism 5/5; and Crusader Strike 1/1. This build will get you to level 70. If AOE's are attractive to you, you can switch over to a protection tree at level 30. While many of the problems that you would experience with the Protection tree finally balances out with the addition of new talents, Protection is still going to me a much slower build for leveling. Your tanking abilities increase drastically, and it is easier to stay alive.

Paladins can solo effectively as they get higher in level. Around level 40, paladins have enough talent points allocated, to have very little trouble soloing. If you don't have a group of friends or guild to play with, you can still play a Pally.
