Scalpers Earn Big with Wrath Beta Keys
To the surprise of none, the Wrath of the Lich King beta keys handed out at Blizzcon 2007 and the Worldwide Invitational are being auctioned off all over the 'net, though it is surprising to see just how much some people are willing to pay.
The record price for a key on eBay U.K. is £513 ($1,019 here in America) according to Eurogamer. Prices in The States are a bit more reasonable: A cursory glance on eBay reveals an average price around $500.
So far Blizzard has done nothing publicly to discourage these auctions, though with the keys having no link to individual accounts until after they've been activated, one wonders what Blizzard could do if they wanted to stop these scalpers.
