A power-struggle seems to be brewing on the set of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, if rumor is to be believed. According to Hollywood Elsewhere there are differences of opinion over the tone of the film between Gavin Hood, who is directing the film, and Fox co-chairman and CEO Tom Rothman.

THE DARK KNIGHT co-writer David Goyer now says his next project could be directing the Magneto movie, a proposed prequel to the X-Men trilogy.
The prequel would tell the backstory of the mutant archvillain, whose real name is Erik Lehnsherr and who was played in the X-Men films by Ian McKellen. McKellen has expressed an interest in playing the adult character at the beginning and end of the film, or in voicover narration, but they will need a younger actor for the majority of the movie... David S. Goyer is a go-to guy for comic book
movies. Among his many credits are screenplays for the Blade movies, the Crow
sequel, and both Christopher Nolan Batman movies. And now Marvel has come
knocking, with Goyer slated to write the X-Men spinoff for
Magneto.
