Yellowstone National Park's winter season begins this week. The nation's oldest national park opens for commercially guided snowmobile and snowcoach trips on Tuesday, Dec. 15. Al Nash is spokesman for Yellowstone. He says it's common for snow levels to be low early in the winter season. The state of Wyoming has filed a new federal lawsuit seeking to block the National Park Service from restricting snowmobile numbers in Yellowstone National Park. The Park Service on Friday issued a temporary rule that would allow up to 318 snowmobiles and 78 snowcoaches per day into the park starting next month and continuing through next winter.
