Quelle scandale! It has been revealed post-inauguration that the ceremony quartet comprised of Yo-Yo Ma, Iztzhak Perlman, Anthony McGill, and Gabriela Montero was FINGER-SYNCING! The NY Times reported Thursday that the players and inauguration organizing committee said the finger-syncing (to a recording made by the quartet two days prior to the ceremony) was "necessary" because of the freezing temperatures and wind, which could have resulted in broken piano strings and cracked instruments. They also maintained that it was an arrangement no one tried to hide. Yo-Yo Ma was quoted as saying: "I really wanted to do something that was absolutely physically and emotionally and, ... Satire can be easily misunderstood. Ottawa columnist John Ivison found that out this week when he wrote about Stephen Harper singing a Beatles song at an Ottawa gala, "backed by an up-and-coming cellist called Yo-Yo Ma."Many readers failed to catch the playfulness behind this sentence, as at least five angry letters came into the Post, similar to this one: "Where has this writer been? Yo-Yo Ma has been around for 30 years and is known...
