Japanese fashion brand Yohji Yamamoto Inc. said Friday it had filed for bankruptcy with debts worth 67 million dollars, as it was hit by the global slump and stronger yen. The firm said it had made a corporate rehabilitation filing with the Tokyo District Court, seeking protection from creditors while maintaining its operations. The company said it had debts worth six billion yen (67 million dollars). The global economic crisis and the strength of the yen against the dollar overwhelmed the company's cost cutting efforts, it said in a statement. Destroyed, androgynous, matronly, night-gown inspired biker chic? Huh, well, it seems to me that Yohji Yamamoto had several bases to cover for his Spring 2010 collection. That being said, the biker pieces were safe, the shredded pyjamas, probably unwearable, and the matronly maids outfits just downright ugly.
