Yohji Yamamoto is a Japanese avant-garde fashion designer. His own line is quite popular in Tokyo, but his collaborations with other companies, from Adidas to Hermes, have helped to make him a household name.
Japanese fashion brand Yohji Yamamoto Inc. said Friday it had filed for bankruptcy with debts worth 67 million dollars, as it was hit by the global slump and stronger yen. DALLAS, Oct 9, 2009 / FW/ — After unveiling his Spring 2010 collection in Paris this week, Japanese designer Yohji Yamamoto filed for bankruptcy in Tokyo.
According to a released statement, the firm listed debts totaling six billion yen, or $67.8 million and cited the prolonged recession as the reason for it financial troubles. The same release said that the company will continue to operate while under bankruptcy protection.
