Yohji Yamamoto, Yoji Yamamoto's globally renowned fashion house, said Friday it has filed with the Tokyo District Court for corporate rehabilitation after piling up ¥6 billion in debts. "In effect, we have liabilities in excess of assets" as a result of the global recession since last year, the yen's appreciation and sluggish personal consumption, said the design house, which was founded in 1972.  

After showing a collection seemingly geared to keep retailers happy, Yohji Yamamoto filed for bankruptcy today, which would explain this season’s (relative) lack of risk-taking.
