Rev. Joseph Lowery - Presidential Medal of Freedom

Rev. Joseph Lowery will receive the Presidential Medal of Honor the nation’s top honor for a civilian. Excerpt: "Lowery, a long-time United Methodist minister, helped lead the Montgomery bus boycott after Rosa Parks was denied a seat. In 1957, he co-founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with the late Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. Lowery, who gave the benediction at Obama’s inauguration, has been an ally of the President since meeting him in March 2007. The two men first met in Selma at the 42nd anniversary of the Bloody Sunday march."
